Help media manager flash uploader not working

The flash uploader is broken in 1.7.0 because the Flash file is outdated.

    Solution: replace in media/system/swf/ with this file:

joomla 1 .7 new feature access to joomla site while offline

Joomla 1.7 New Feature – Grant access to groups to access your Joomla website while it is Offline

Generally it takes a while for you to customize and develop your Joomla website.  In the meantime you don’t want the public to see your site while are you still in development/ designing mode.   There is an option to set your Joomla website into “Offline” mode where only the super administrator can see your website.  This was always there in previous version.   But now, if you have a client who is eager to see the progress of your work, you can assign them access to view the website “Offline”, but also prevents them from logging into your Joomla backend.  Remember as a Super Administrator, you have access to everything and see everything that is happening on your website.

joomla template css and images only displayed on home page

Sometimes your template will lose all its styles and images when navigating away from the Frontpage.

This is caused by an incorrect path to the stylesheet due to SEF errors. If you’ve enabled SEF, make sure your htaccess.txt file is renamed to .htaccess. You may need to temporarily disable SEF. Checking loaded php configuration

Normally, you can check your loaded php configuration from Joomla admin. However, sometimes you need to check php configuration for different folders. Especially, if you use custom php.ini files for different folders, you cannot check it from Joomla admin.

Here, there is an easy way to check config.

- With your text editor, create a configtest.php file with following content:

   phpinfo();
?>
- Then upload this file to your server under public_html or www folder.
